Cabin baggage

Allowed with limits

  • Spare batteries: Batteries, spare/loose, including lithium batteries, non-spillable batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries and dry batteries for portable electronic devices must be carried in carry-on baggage only. Articles which have the primary purpose as a power source, e.g. power banks, are considered as spare batteries. These batteries must be individually protected to prevent short circuits.
  • Lithium metal batteries: The lithium metal content must not exceed 2g.
  • Lithium-Ion batteries: The Watt-hour rating must not exceed 100Wh.
Power banks

Power banks are considered as spare/loose batteries. In addition to the above requirements, the below restrictions apply to power banks.

  • Carry-on only: Power banks must be placed in carry-on baggage only.
  • Storage onboard: Power banks must not be placed in overhead lockers and must be stored only in the seat pocket or placed inside your bag that will fit under the seat in front of you.
  • No use onboard: It cannot be used onboard to charge any device.
  • No charging power banks: It is prohibited to charge the power bank using the onboard power source.
  • Switched off: Must remain switched off throughout the flight.
  • Personal electronic devices with lithium batteries: Devices such as mobile phones, laptops, tablets and cameras are permitted. Lithium metal must not exceed 2 g lithium content and lithium ion must not exceed 100 Wh. Maximum 15 devices per passenger (personal usage).
  • E cigarettes and personal vaporizers: Permitted in carry-on baggage only and must be protected from accidental activation.
Smart baggage

To take smart baggage into the cabin, the lithium batteries must be removable and within the cabin baggage size and limit. The battery can remain installed as long as the smart bag is completely powered off and must not be switched on until arrival at the destination. Smart bags with non-removable lithium batteries are not acceptable.

Completely prohibited

  • Disabling sprays: Mace, pepper spray and similar devices are not permitted in cabin baggage or on the person.
  • Electro shock weapons: Tasers and similar devices are not permitted in cabin baggage, checked baggage, or on the person.
  • Strike anywhere matches and certain lighters: Strike anywhere matches, blue flame lighters, cigar lighters, and lighters powered by a lithium battery without protection against unintentional activation are not permitted.

Checked baggage

Allowed with limits

  • Personal electronic devices with lithium batteries: Permitted in checked baggage within the same battery limits. Devices must be completely switched off and protected from damage.
  • Toiletries and aerosols: Permitted in checked baggage within these limits. Total per passenger must not exceed 2 kg or 2 L. Each item must not exceed 0.5 kg or 0.5 L. Aerosol release valves must be protected to prevent accidental release.
  • Mercury clinical thermometer: One mercury clinical thermometer per passenger is permitted in checked baggage when in its protective case.

Completely prohibited

  • Power banks and spare batteries: Not accepted in checked baggage.
  • E cigarettes and personal vaporizers: Not accepted in checked baggage.
  • Smart baggage with a non removable lithium battery: Not accepted.
  • Disabling sprays and electro shock weapons: Not accepted in checked baggage.

Prohibited dangerous examples

The following are examples of dangerous goods that passengers should not pack in cabin or checked baggage, or carry on the person, unless an item is specifically allowed under the passenger provisions.

  • Gases: Flammable, non-flammable and poisonous gases, including butane and propane, and diving cylinders. Oxygen cylinders are not accepted unless they are approved medical oxygen or air cylinders that meet the passenger conditions.
  • Flammable liquids and solids: Lighter fuel, heater fuel, paint, and similar flammable products.
  • Poisons: Insecticides, weed killers, arsenic and cyanide.
  • Radioactive, oxidizing and organic peroxide materials: Including oxidizers and organic peroxides.
  • Firearms and explosives: Including handguns, automatic weapons, explosives and munitions.
  • Infectious substances: Including bacteria and viruses.
  • Corrosives: Including acids, alkalis and wet cell batteries. Mercury is restricted and only permitted as a mercury clinical thermometer in checked baggage under the passenger allowance.
  • Cooking oils: Not accepted when classified as dangerous goods.

  • Electric One Wheel
  • Segway/Self-balancing Scooter/Electric Two Wheel Self Balancing Vehicle
  • Electric Scooter Boards
  • Electric Caster Board/Electric Razor Ripstick , either as Carry on or Checked baggage due to the presence of large lithium batteries.
